In 1970 I had graduated from the Brigham Young University Nursing Program & was working in the Salt Lake City/County Health Department as a Public Health Nurse. My 2 uncles who had served in WWII as pilots in the Air Force talked me into joining the reserve unit at Hill AFB UT where they continued to serve. My Uncle swore me into the Air Force.

For the next year I served in the Med-Evac Reserve unit at Hill AFB and attended OBMTM and Flight Nurse training as part of my training. While I was at Flight Nurse School I decided to go active duty.

My first active duty assignment was to Griffiths AFB NY. There I was a staff nurse.

In 1972 I received orders to the staging flight at Tan San Nhut AFB Vietnam. There I served as clinic & staff nurse. My favorite activity was the MEDCAP Program where we would take medical teams out to the villages.

My final assignment was to Travis AFB CA in the Newborn & Level 2 Nursery. While in Vietnam I met Sgt. Richard Warner and after both of our discharges we were married. He continued to serve in the Air Force for 21 years. We had the opportunity to serve in Maine, Colorado, Oklahoma, & Germany.

We honor you, Janet Warner.
