Mr. Miller was born August 17, 1950 in Washington, D.C.  He graduated from Albert Einstein High School (1968).  He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps (1968).  He was assigned to combat duty in Quang Nam Provence, South Vietnam with Kilo Co. 3rd Battalion, 7th Regiment, 1st Marine Division.

On July 4, 1969, he was severely wounded, amputation of the left leg and multiple shrapnel wounds to the body, and was honorably discharged January 31, 1970.

He is married to his college sweetheart (Elesa) and is the proud father of two (2) daughters (Shannon and Kimberly) & four (4) grandchildren.

He is a member of several Veteran Service Organizations and received several awards, college fraternities, Knights of Columbus/Past Grand Knight/Past Faithful Navigator (4th Degree Color Guard, and Color Corps Commander.

His wife is Elesa attended Frostburg State College.  His daughter Shannon attended University of Maryland and his daughter Kimberly attended University of Maryland, Frostburg Campus.

Mr. Miller graduated from Frostburg State College, BS Ed. (1976), a member of (Tau Kappa Epsilon and Kappa Zeta Chi Fraternities and the Varsity Gymnastic Team), Control Data Institute, Certificate (1979), George Washington University, MA Ed. (1984), & The National Catholic University of America, MSW (1995).

(1989) – Present (DVA Readjustment Counseling Services/Vet Center program).  He is the Silver Spring, Maryland Vet Center Director/Supervisor Social Worker. He provides counseling and referrals for veterans and their families, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Drug and Alcohol, Bereavement, and several other readjustment issues. Also, provides supportive counseling for local and national disaster and at several memorials dedications on the Mall in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Miller currently serves as Vice-Chair on the Montgomery County Commission on Veterans Affairs and has served as a Commissioner since 2012.
