2017-9-6 Padgett
The Secretary of the Army of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Army Commendation Medal with Combat “V” to Specialist Fifth Class Bobby E. Padgett, United States Army, for heroism in the Republic of Vietnam on 11 August 1968. Specialist Padgett distinguished himself while acting as a member of an engineer reconnaissance team operating in the A Shau Valley, Thua Thien Province, Republic of Vietnam. While gathering information on A Luoi and Ta Bat Airstrips, Specialist Padgett risked his own life by knowingly walking on a mined area with full knowledge of the possibility of stepping on a mine. The area was five thousand feet in length. Nevertheless, Specialist Padgett continued to do his job of taking soil samples and measuring soil bearing capacities of the runways. Through his courage and outstanding devotion to duty he contributed immeasurably to the success of the mission. Specialist Padgett’s personal bravery and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
We honor you, Bobby Padgett.
