HOW CAN WE HELP THOSE WHO HAVE SACRAFICE SO MUCH FOR US

At the July 26th Cedar City council meeting, we paid tribute to K9 Max who has served with us since 2017. After declining health, Max is officially retiring and has served the community well during his career in public service.

A few of his many career accomplishments include:
🔹 In 2019, Max assisted Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) with recovering 5 lbs of cocaine and 1 lb of ecstasy
🔹 In 2021, he assisted UHP with recovering 2 kilos of heroin, a large amount of marijuana, and a gun
🔹 He has successfully held a suspect at bay on a SWAT incident
🔹 He helped locate a missing two-year-old child

Please join us in thanking K9 Max for his dedication to his job and this community! We also want to thank Officer Crofts and Sgt. Lovell, his handlers, for taking good care of him. Max will enjoy his retirement life with one of his handlers, Sgt. Lovell and his family. You've been a Good Boy, Max, and we thank you for your unwavering service! 🐾

We honor you, K9 Max.

Recruited by the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) during WWII, Sergeant Leif Bangsboll parachuted into Nazi-occupied Denmark in 1944 and was the only American agent serving in that country. He was commissioned in occupied Denmark and received the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions working with guerrilla forces.

After WWII, he trained as an intelligence officer, serving in a Military Government (now Civil Affairs) company and airborne units.

In November 1950, while assigned to the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team, First Lieutenant Bangsboll earned the Silver Star for combat actions near Pyongwon-ni, North Korea.

In May 1952, Captain Bangsboll was one of the first soldiers to join the newly created U.S. Army Special Forces.

He helped to write and then taught the program of instruction for the SF Qualification course, thereby influencing the Force for decades to come. Before retiring in 1963, Lieutenant Colonel Bangsboll served in the 77th and 10th Special Forces Groups and in several conventional assignments that needed his unconventional warfare experiences.

In 2019, the U.S. Special Operations Command selected him for induction into the Commando Hall of Honor.

We honor you, Leif Bangsboll.

Because of his expertise as an Olympic champion skeet shooter (1937), Charles, aka Robert, Stack was assigned to teach anti-aircraft gunnery. In honor of his three years of service, Stack was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal, Expert Rifle Ribbon, and Expert Pistol Ribbon. In 1944 he served upon the USS Hancock and in 1945 the USS Sitkoh Bay.

Five Stack family members were in the Navy during WWII including an admiral who served as an aide to President Roosevelt and another was a seaman second class. Stack was discharged in 1945 as a full lieutenant. Robert continued on a heroic path in his life eventually dedicating his work to finding America's most wanted criminals. He never stopped fighting the bad guys.

We honor you, Charles "Robert" Stack.
