2017-7-16 Parry
Stan Parry was drafted into the Army in August 21, 1952 at 20 years old. He had 13 weeks of Basic Training at Fort Ord, CA.
He was selected to go to Cook’s School at the Presidio in San Francisca, CA. He then became a cook at The Officers’ Mess at Fort Scott at the base near the Golden Gate Bridge. The Sergeant in charge had been a cook in civilian life and Stan learned to bake. It was a good experience as only 2 meals a day were served and weekends were off! He was discharged August 22, 1954.
We honor you, Stan Parry.
