May 23, 2018, at the Detroit Public Safety Foundation Women in Blue Woman of the Year awards, Danielle Woods was recognized as the Policewoman of the year.

Corporal Danielle Woods is a Detroit native and 17-year veteran. Her outstanding work ethic and will to exceed is another example of all of the women at the Detroit Police Department. She has a great rapport with the community is excellent at organizing community projects, helping detectives investigate crimes against and within the LGBT community. Woods is the first-ever LGBT training coordinator who educates members of the department and other agencies.
