2017-7-6 Hoggan
On May 15, 1917, Arland enlisted in the United States Army at 20 years of age. He was assigned to Company B, 2nd Division US Engineers. He trained in El Paso, Texas at Camp Baker, and then was transported overseas on September 10, 1917. Arland served in many engagements in France and Germany during World War I:

  • Aisne 5/31/18 to 6/5/18
  • Chateau Thierry 6/6/18 to 7/9/18
  • Aisne Marne 7/18/18 to 7/19/18
  • Marbache 8/9/18 to 8/16/18
  • St Mihiel 9/12/18 to 9/16/18
  • Meuse Argonne Champagne 10/1/18 to 10/26/18
  • Meuse Argonne 11/1/18 to 11/11/18
  • March to Rhine 11/17/18 to 12/14/18
  • A of O 12/14/18 to 1/20/19

Arland enlisted as a private. He was promoted to Private First Class on September 9, 1918 and then to Cook on May 20, 1918. Arland was honorably discharged August 16, 1919.
