SN1 Edward Pylinski

Edward Pylinski was born on June 2, 1927, in New Haven, Connecticut. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 after the onset of WWII and served as a Seaman First Class on the USS Amsterdam (CL-101) in the Pacific Theater of Operations.

Part of his service saw the USS Amsterdam conducting aircraft carrier protection operations during the final attacks on the Japanese mainland in support of Task Force 38. After the Japanese surrender, Edward remained with the Task Force off the coast of Japan and eventually steamed into Tokyo Bay in September of 1945.
